ASK OUR EXPERTS...

As a mother, I want to make healthy choices for my family. With so much information out there, I feel over-whelmed. Can you help?

With today’s advertising using words like “Natural”, “Organic” and “Healthy” to get our buying dollars, it is challenging to know what is “best”.

When I was in my mid 30’s, I was a chronic asthmatic, suffered from eczema, and I had no energy. I developed a brain tumor and cervical cancer, and was gaining weight rapidly. I was prescribed many drugs, but I continued to get worse. I was told by age 40 I would require an oxygen tank to be able breath. My health changed once I went to a Naturopathic Doctor. He identified that I had 114 environmental allergies and 225+ food allergies! I was off the charts! He sent me to seminars, suggested books to read, and taught me how to make healthy choices. I learned of the difference between Organic and Certified Organic, and that the word “Natural” has no value in selecting safe products. I learned about Genetically Modified Foods (GMO’s), and how food is handled. I learned about labelling of products, the role of the regulating agencies in Canada and the US, and I learned that if I want to be healthy, it is up to me to choose wisely. In short, what I learned was to ask questions and get the answers, or stay away from that product. I look for scientific evidence, not testimonials, that products are safe for use.

Read labels, shop for certified organic foods, eat meat that contains no hormones or antibiotics and drink distilled or spring water. Only use cleaning products, personal care products or cosmetics that are scientifically proven to be safe enough to ingest. In other words, “if you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin or into the air you breathe.” Take quality, “food grade nutritional supplements” every day. Get rid of carpets in your home, and avoid processed and fast food of all types, to list a few. Value your health above all else.

Today I have enjoyed over 10 years of great health. No drugs (including antibiotics and over the counter drugs), no asthma, no eczema, no flues or colds, no more lacking of energy or having trouble thinking. When I removed the toxins from my home, personal care and cosmetic products, my health changed for the better, almost instantly. I still have the occasional allergy attack, flu or cold - the difference is they last only a few hours.
