With Fall coming quickly, can you suggest the best hair regime to keep
my hair looking great?

It is very easy to get overwhelmed by all the sprays, gels, irons, etc., on
the market. The following tips may give you some direction to keeping great
looking hair simple:
The first and foremost item you need in your beauty kit is a good brush.
Believe it or not, the higher quality your hairbrush, the healthier your
hair. A great choice is a brush with a rubber base and boars head bristles.
These bristles flex, cutting down on the damage. One important note: never
use a brush on wet hair. Use a wide-toothed comb. This prevents stripping
and splitting. It is also recommended that you use a leave-in conditioner.
These products protect your hair from heat and chemical damage, plus coat
hair leaving it tangle-free, hence less breakage!
Blowdryers are next. Never underestimate the power of a good blowdryer. A
strong blowdryer will speed drying time which reduces your hair’s exposure
to damaging heat. For thick hair, choose a dryer with at least 1,875 watts.
1,500 watts is fine for finer hair.
Now into the “finishing” products. Shine serums are a must for a shiny mane
and they really do work! If you have fine, straight hair, forego the gel
serums for the shine sprays as the gels weigh fine hair down. For thick
hair, choose the serums as they work better at smoothing the hair.
Volumizing products are the ticket for those with fine hair. Apply directly
to the roots. For coarse hair, choose a balm. Balms calm down the frizzies.
Note: hot rollers and straightening irons are other great tools for getting
rid of the frizzies as well, but make sure you use a heat resistant spray or
serum first to avoid heat damage.
And finally, hairspray. Unlike the movie, hairsprays are not only for
creating “big hair”. For everyday usage to simply keep your style in check,
try a flexible, soft hold formula. For extra body, lift sections and spay
close to the roots.
A Note from the Environment...when choosing hair care products, yes, it is
convenient to grab the latest line, however, women and our abundant use of
beauty care products filled toxic ingredients, packaged with toxic bottles,
compacts, etc., are a huge contributor to the excess landfill waste. If
possible, and there are loads of products of this nature on the market,
choose from an organic line (or as natural as possible) and check to see if
the packaging is biodegradable or even re-fillable!
