WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...
I have a Christmas party coming up and I don’t want to
wear the same outfit I wore last year because it just isn’t “me” anymore.
What do you suggest?
Ask yourself, “What do I want my outfit to say about me?” After all,
clothing is the number one form of self expression. Do you want to appear
elegant, romantic or alluring?
Elegant/Sophisticated - For this look choose a tailored black dress
in a fabric that holds its shape. Jewelry can be delicate and refined in
black or metallic. Pearls also work. Choose either your necklace or your
earrings as your main focus, not both. Less is more for this uncluttered
look. To create a more modest look, drape bare arms and décolletage with a
sheer shawl. Black pantyhose and high heels are classic. Accessorize with
long black gloves and a ladylike clutch purse. Arrive at the party in your
best tailored coat. The finished look says “sophisticated, elegant,
glamorous and classy.”
Romantic/Feminine - To create this look choose a dress with flowing
fabric and curved lines. An empire waist, gathers, and a ruffled hem all
create a gentle appearance. Go for pastel water colors in pink or blue hues.
Jewelry can be whimsical and youthful with details such as bows, round
pendants, or flowers. Your wrap can be faux fur or soft fabric with ruffles.
Curled hair suits this style. Delicate makeup in lighter tones like pink,
lavender, and peach makes you radiant! Wear a coat that has curved lines
such as rounded shoulders and a curved hem. A soft scarf is the best
outerwear accessory for this look. The final outfit says “graceful, pretty,
shy and romantic.”
Alluring/Magnetic - For this look choose a form-fitting dress that
isn’t too tight. The waist can be cinched with a belt to create an hourglass
figure. Your dress can be in silver or gold (silver looks best on brunettes,
and gold on blonds). Red or fuscia is fierce; black is mysterious. Details
on the dress can be sequins or hardware which increases the visual volume.
Expose bare arms and showcase one of your assets: legs or décolletage, not
both. Oversized earrings are the most sexy in a chandelier shape or hoops.
Arrive in a leather jacket or faux fur. This look isn’t about weight or
size, it’s about shape and attitude. The final outfit says, “confident,
sexy, fearless, and unabashed.” You are gorgeous!
