RISING WOMEN EXPERTS...
My head leads the way. For the most part I am satisfied with the
decisions I make, but feel something is missing. How do I get more out of
life?
By Reverend Nadene Rogers of the Calgary Joy of Life Centre
It has long since been said that the 18” between our head and our heart
is the longest distance we shall ever travel. How true. When I have
contemplated “freely give myself into life”, there has often been a sense of
great sacrifice, which makes my efforts less like an achievement and more
like a price I have to pay. And I have wondered if that be the reason I have
deferred to my intellect (rather mindlessly) to stay safe. We can’t get what
is missing; we can only “give” it.
The Law of Sacrifice states that we must give something of value up, in
order to gain something of greater value. I have come to believe the
something of value that we have to give up is our resistance to our
spiritual magnificence.
We seem to need an answer for everything. Perpetuating our intellect’s lead,
we suppress our heart’s intelligence. This is why, even though all of us are
called (to reveal heaven on earth), not all of us are able to answer the
call. Our intellect can perpetuate within us a philosophy that depends upon,
even fights for the concepts of Karma or Life after death in order for us to
avoid the power of Presence in and as us. It is here we become distracted by
the presence of power, ensuring a comfortable distance from our heart,
disillusioned by a hope in a time that never comes.
As spiritual seekers, we must come to terms with turning our lives over here
and now to the unseen potential in all, if we are to experience a rich and
meaningful existence.
“At the center of our being is a point of nothingness which is untouched by
sin and by illusion, a point of pure truth, a point or spark which belongs
entirely to God which is never at our disposal, from which god disposes of
our lives, which is inaccessible to the fantasies of our own mind or the
brutalities of our own will.” Thomas Merton
Spiritual laws support our awareness of the breadth and depth of our
spiritual nature, growing a sense of inner security and trust. As we
surrender our mental machinations over to this point of pure truth, our
revelation of Oneness and aliveness is experienced. What we are looking for,
we are looking at and we are looking with. Greater value indeed!
