I have been in business for several years. I am having
trouble keeping staff. I have heard that coaching helps build great teams &
helps keep staff. How could coaching help my organization?

Coaching would be a great asset for both you and your organization. As a
leader you can work with a coach to improve your leadership skill set and to
learn how to take a coaching approach with your staff.
A coach will work with you to assess where you can improve your leadership
skills to improve the culture in your organization and to identify the
process to transform your business using your leadership style. More than
ever before it is essential that leaders use a coaching approach to provide
clear expectations, honest feedback, learning opportunities and recognition.
Leaders with strong coaching skills and a commitment are able to increase
job performance.
Coaching skills allow you to tap into your creativity and intuition to
improve and increase your business results. This will help guide you into
creating a better tool kit of competencies and capacities and to develop a
strategic plan, enhance work flows and receive continuous feedback.
Here are a few simple steps you can take immediately to bring the coaching
approach to your business:
1) Identify what it would look like when you have created success.
2) List the resources you and your staff need to create success; all too
often we fail to provide the tools our staff needs to create the success you
expect.
3) Do not take anything personally; your staff reacts to your attitude.
4) Assume that members of your staff are doing the best they can and praise
them daily.
5) Work with the strengths and talents of your staff.
6) Be an active listener.
7) Ask great questions.
8) Ask for results versus demanding or telling.
9) Be thankful, act thankful and demonstrate appreciation of who they are.
10) Create a strategic plan with your staff so that they have the
opportunity to create success.
