Thoughts
- Making the Choice to be Healthy & Happy
By Janet Rowe of Health & Natural Lifestyles
To start, I would like to say that you are all amazing women. Give
yourselves a big pat on the back!
Women are truly amazing creatures full of creativity, multi-tasking,
nurturing, ambition, organizational skills, and the list goes on and on. For
some of you, the hectic pace of another school year is in full swing
inclusive of all the sports, dancing, Brownies and birthday parties that
follow suit. With this schedule, of course, comes the driving and time spent
volunteering, whilst still maintaining the house, the meals, husband, etc.
For others, it involves a full time career, while balancing the children,
school, house and husband. Oh, and let’s not forget the care and attention
of elderly parents, whom our cherished time is limited with. And somewhere
in our day we are meant to make time for ourselves to do that feminine
maintenance so that we can actually look and feel feminine throughout our
entire chaotic day-by-day.
I always get a kick out of the Martha comic strip as it really is very true.
We have to be and do so many things, that we just have to laugh at the
foibles that come with trying to do everything. We take on many tasks and
still remain sane, or do we? As life unfolds, we just seem to continue going
until we get sick, or perhaps another family member gets sick. Now think
about it. What if something happens that is very serious, something that
requires more time to help or to heal? This definitely means change.
Perhaps it’s you. You have crashed; the stress has become too much, you are
depressed, weak and have slipped into victim mode. How many of us would know
what to do if we did crash, or become deathly ill? What would happen to your
family, your mortgage, your time spent “doing”? What would have to change?
Yes, it is much easier to not want to think about these things, but reality
is reality. It is a weird and strange feeling to all of a sudden loose a
grip on this reality but truthfully, you don’t have to let it happen to you.
Fortunately there is a solution and it’s in the name of prevention. To
prevent sinking to an all time low is to SLOW DOWN, get rid of the stress,
and take back your power.
So what if you have already crashed, what then? This may sound strange, but
embrace it, maybe this is your higher power’s way of telling you to slow
down. Maybe it is spirit’s way of helping you gain reality of your own soul,
or helping you to believe in yourself, or testing your faith in love. Maybe
there is an ultimate life lesson. Maybe it is a challenge to go against the
odds. This is where we need to live in the present.
We are supposed to have balance in our life, and to do that you need to
organize it, to practice it and schedule time for yourself in order to
regain your power. Don’t worry about feeling guilty or selfish about setting
personal boundaries and saying “No”. Did we sign some kind of a contract
when coming on to earth that we would be Superwoman? Did we get a husband
that signed one of these contracts to be Superman?
Day after day I see people in varying degrees of illness. Some live in the
past blaming all of their woes on others, doctors, their job, the kids,
everything that makes them a victim. Are others to blame? Or should we take
the responsibility on ourselves? Nine times out of ten we choose to include
others issues as our own. All the readings, and self analyzation, the many
reality shows, the speakers, everyone out there in some way is trying to
make us realize the same thing, take back your power, create balance. Listen
to your soul and don’t try to be something you are not. The only real
contract we have on this earth is to give love, receive love and to accept
love.
The Dan Millman book, The Laws of Spirit explains the various “Laws” to live
a happy, healthy abundant life and is really a great book exampling the
transformation of living a balanced life, through spiritual laws. I highly
recommend it to help people understand illness, and how we have come to
experience it within our lives, family, and how simple positive changes can
change our life. The happiest, healthiest people on earth have found this
balance, making life a wonderful journey. When we work it should be
something we love to do, so that we can grow in knowledge, while living
within our own power. When we love, we should do it because it brings joy
and butterflies in our soul. When we dance or play, we should enjoy every
moment as if no one is watching; as if there is no judgement, fear, or
expectation.
Recently, the movie The Secret, was released and is valuable in
understanding the “Law of Attraction”. It helps make sense of how much the
power of our thoughts have over our lives; how we can create health,
happiness and joy in everything we do through our repetitive thoughts. It is
a great example of how positive thoughts result in positive actions and
results, and how we can choose to manifest and practice creating the things
we want to happen in our lives, and take back control.
We make choices daily. We can choose to believe and feel sickly - after all
we probably seeded that thought through our imagination of some symptom our
body gave us - or we can reverse it and visualize repeatedly the opposite:
health, vibrancy and balance. Which is better to tell yourself, “I can and
are getting well, and making progress every day,” or “I am so sick I wish I
could just curl up and die.” All thoughts are choices with consequences.
Choose to believe and take action in being happy, healthy and joyful in all
levels. Create positive actions and thoughts in everything. Regain control;
listen to your higher power. Find your soul, start visualizing change to
your circumstance, make the choice to be happy, healthy, peaceful, and love
yourself - your life. Remember to slow down and smell the roses!
