Rising Couple - Tracy & Peter TilmaCalling All Aliens - Believing In Your Truth

By Tracy & Peter Tilma of The Healing House

Do you have days where you question where you fit in, if at all? Maybe you ask yourself, “Who dropped me off on this strange planet anyway?” Often times the world around us does not support who we feel we are on the inside.

In our opinion, society definitely does not support the individual seeking new answers and new truths, unless of course, the quest is something deemed acceptable by society. Sometimes you can feel like an alien surrounded by the oblivious masses. Whether we want to believe it or not there really is a “cookie cutter” expectation for your life. We like to think we are individuals free to follow our path of choice, but there is an enormous pressure to follow the status quo. Society does not really like people who rock the boat. If your beliefs are considered extreme you are viewed as a threat, or a quack, and maybe even persecuted, only perhaps to be viewed as a hero years after your death. How can you dare think about questioning existing structures that have been in place for thousands of years, such as religion, politics, science, and medicine. After all, everything is running so smoothly. Right?

Society at large is basically run on fear. Some examples include fear of violence, loss, poverty, lack, abandonment, rejection, not measuring up or not being good enough. We feed ourselves countless hours of television, fueling the very fires of our fears. We watch marvelous shows, such as “Extreme Makeover” for the physically or attractively challenged. You too can have countless plastic surgeries make you look like a movie star, because at the end of the day isn’t it really all about how we look? Is it the end of the world to want to look better? No, of course not. But are we really looking at the deeper spiritual need of the Self or just that role of flab around the middle? Cut it out and you too will have a better life. Maybe. You may have a better life for a while.

Of course there is always that special show, “America’s Top Model,” which is every parents dream for their little girl. “Oh honey, put on Size 2 stilettos and prance around and look proud. But don’t ever show any pain if you want to make it big!” If we sound a little cynical, we are. If our Reality TV shows are indicative of our level of spiritual evolvement as a society, then we would say that society is basically a pretty empty shell with nothing to sustain it but material hedonistic endeavors and “extreme makeovers.”

Is that the future you want for your kids? Is that the reality you wish to experience? If it is not the future you want, then what can you possibly do as one lone alien? Chances are if you feel that way, you too are not alone. Just maybe there are many other aliens that feel the same way out there, but have no idea what to do. After all, where is there support among the parade of “Fear Factors,” “Survivors” and “Apprentices?” For starters, it is a waste of energy to try and change the structures around you. That is not to say you cannot and should not voice an opinion and be heard. The most valuable thing you can do is to stand behind your own beliefs and convictions even if they fly in the face of accepted norms. Gandhi said it beautifully when he stated, “…you must be the change you wish the world to be.” In other words even if it sounds like a cliché, the “buck really does stop here.” It all really begins and ends with each one of us. We can only act as facilitators in helping you find your own truth. In finding our own truth, we have come to realize that a lot of our society is really not our truth.

For all you aliens out there looking for different answers and solutions, we wish to leave you with a statement by an unknown author and origin, “Never put your faith in anyone but your self! Do not look outside your self for answers. Trust your self deeply! If trusting your self conflicts with other’s expectations, it is even more important to trust your self very deeply.”
