RISING WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...

I heard that our body can communicate with us and guide us in the direction that is best for our health and happiness. What can you tell me about this and how can I understand what my body is communicating?

This is a valuable and timely question. Within every individual, there is the ability to dream in life and take actions that are in alignment with that dream. When we are in balance, we flow between dreaming and action, creating the life we want with
greater ease.

When a disconnection between these two abilities throws us out of balance, our body alerts us and we either listen or ultimately manifest some level of illness or “dis-ease”. Listening to the signals of our body can be as simple as “not doing” long enough to feel, and trusting our inner knowing to understand the specific meaning of the communication. On some level, we know that our skin is about our connection with the outside world, our eyes are about our willingness to see and our reproductive system is about giving birth to our dreams. The condition of our body will always lead us to the root of a problem and allow us to heal and fall back into balance.

Take a moment. When in your life have you taken an action that led you away from what you wanted? Perhaps you took a job that didn’t work out and recall a “feeling” of uncertainty about it in the interview. That “feeling” was your body’s first signal. If you then went on and fought to stay in that job, your body’s second signal would be the increasing loss of vital energy. How that loss of energy manifests is specific to you as an individual, playing out as a kind of road map of your unique psychology.

Today, many of us are moving too fast in life to “see” when our actions are disconnected to our dreams. Others may be so immersed in their dream that they are missing the right timing for action. Develop or re-discover your natural abilities in this area by beginning with a few basic steps. The next time you take an action - ask yourself, “how did that go? What went well and what could I do differently next time?” Reflecting and taking in your successes will keep you connected to your dreams and stepping forward with purpose.
