RISING WOMEN EXPERT
ADVICE...
Why is it that once
a person realizes they are in a rut, they find it so hard to get out of it?
Being in a rut can result from a work environment, a relationship, or even
from a goal that is no longer in alignment with the person’s best interest.
Being in a rut happens when you no longer are having your needs met and your
growth has been stunted. Knowing you are in a rut is your body and mind’s
way of saying something here needs to change! Often you begin to feel
anxious and stressed. However, usually you have had other nudges along the
way, like perhaps your physical and/or emotional health is not what they
used to be.
Once you are aware that you are in a rut, many people find it hard to get
out of it. The reasons for this are numerous, but often they can be traced
back to the limiting beliefs that are held within and are guiding us through
life. A limiting belief is composed of those things you believe about
yourself and the world that place limitations on your abilities. These
beliefs may be conscious or unconscious. Beliefs are formed at a young age
from things we have heard or saw as well from being taught to us by our
parents and through the church, community and education system. From the
time our beliefs are formed, we seek out situations that will reinforce
these beliefs thus our belief’s become stronger over time.
Change becomes difficult because the messages and beliefs we tell ourselves,
and perhaps hear from others, reinforce that we should keep the status quo.
These messages and beliefs can include just about any scenario such as:
“Your job will get better...”, “You may never find another job...” or “Do
more for your partner, you should feel lucky to have one...”, and so on.
Creating the life we want and desire is integral upon a person gaining
awareness and taking responsibility for the messages that are being
received. Life is not about struggling to survive, or about settling for
second best. Life is about happiness, health, passion, growth and abundance.
If you are not living the life you envisioned, take action now before you
end up in a rut. If you are already there, know that your life is waiting,
and you truly have the power inside yourself to change directions. If you
are unable to do this without support, limiting beliefs and negative
patterns of behaviour can be changed through the use of traditional therapy,
Re-pattering or hypnotherapy, for example.
