OUR EXPERTS...
I have an injured leg. I’ve heard that positive thinking and
visualization helps but I have negative mind chatter that stops me. What can
I do?
By Jan Mitchell of Expanding MindsNegative mind chatter
indicates the need for you to make changes. Find a new notebook and write
down your negative mind chatter, fears and limiting beliefs as they come to
mind. Beside each one rate it from 0 as neutral to 10 as the worst. These
negative thoughts slow you down from healing and reaching your goals. Keep
this list close to you so you can continue to work on it.
Begin re-programming them by thinking of specific past experiences of
negative mind chatter. Listen closely to the internal words; sound and tone.
Where is it located in your body? Imagine it moving to your throat area.
Make it caring and supportive with the words: “I feel, I think, I want, I
choose”. Notice how your experience changes. Imagine yourself in the future
going through the steps quickly. Seeing, hearing and feeling how positive
and easy it is.
Redirect your unconscious to heal your leg with visualization. See a picture
of beautiful, clear healing color surrounding your leg. Imagine each breath
in with healing life energy flowing through your body and healing your leg;
hear healing thoughts and words. Feel the sensations of your healing leg. Or
you can see, hear, feel, accept and believe it is healed now!
If a negative thought appears say, “Cancel; Cancel that thought” and reframe
it with a supportive affirmation that is positive, personal, powerful and
present. Choose ones that support healing and replace old beliefs, such as,
“I am optimally energetic and healthy!” Talk and listen to your body, ask it
what it needs. Listen to your body, care for it, feed it healthy foods and
move it. Use visualization, affirmations and other positive tools many times
each day.
Remember that negative mind chatter is an indication of what is going on in
your unconscious. Continue working on your list of limiting beliefs and
fears knowing that issues rated at -1 to -3 are easier to change on your
own. Issues of -4 to -10 are deeply ingrained in your unconscious mind and
often require outside assistance.
Your unconscious mind simply wants to support and take care of you. It hears
old limiting beliefs like “I’m not smart”, and it creates those results
because it thinks that you want to “not be smart”. It proves what you
believe. Take care
