RISING WOMEN EXPERT
ADVICE...
How can I generate business from my
Facebook friends?
Have you ever heard anyone say, “your best source for referrals is through
friends and family”? Where is the number one place online where most people
connect with friends and family? That’s right, Facebook. And yes, most
people are unsure how to generate business from their Facebook community.
The first way to generate business is through your status updates. Keep your
friends up to date on what you are up to professionally. This is an
excellent way to keep you and your business “top-of-mind”. Let your friends
know what types of clients you’re looking for, as this will make it easy for
them to connect you with their friends.
It is important to remember to keep your personal profile personal. Don’t
set up a personal profile under a business name (I will get to Business
Profiles later on). Personal profiles are meant to be personal, business
profile are for business (I will get to that later on too). Therefore,
updates should be how your friends can help you or what you are up to
professionally. Don’t make it a sales pitch.
Next, we have Facebook email. Facebook has made it easy to create groups of
your friends whom you can send mass emails to. Through most internet service
providers, you are limited to how many emails you can send with similar
content; however, there is no limit on Facebook. Send periodic emails
updating your friends on what you are working on, specials you are running
or even new projects. Always include a call to action. Do you want them to
call or email you? Do you want them to forward the information to their
friends? What do you want your friends to do next?
Business Pages are, in my opinion, the best way to do business on Facebook.
Pages are indexed by search engines and can be completely customized to
showcase your business. Invite your friends to join your business page. Your
friends like you, so why wouldn’t they like your business? Your Business
Page allows you to have status updates (same as a profile) and people can
(if you allow it) make comments on your page. This is a great way to
interact with your clients or prospects on a professional level.
Friends want to help you succeed and to do that you need to tell them what
they can do to help. See you online!
