RISING WOMEN EXPERT
ADVICE...
How do I generate repeat business out of
my clients?
One thing I am often asked from business owners is: “I have a great
database, product/service or special running and people come and use our
business, but then we never see them again. How do I bring clients back?”
Firstly, if you are one of those businesses that have a database, then start
using it! If you are one of those businesses that doesn’t have a database,
START ONE! A database is your starting point to tracking customers and
storing relevant information. To keep your consumers happy, keep lines of
communication open. This builds relationships, so they will come back. Some
basic tips to ensuring repeat purchasing from your clients are:
Put your client’s needs first. Focus on your client’s success, and
yours will follow. It is very simple to go out of your way and help your
customer achieve their goals without worrying about your bottom line. This
is customer service!
Help your clients network. It never hurts to do a client a favor
above and beyond the call of business, and it’s something the client
remembers.
Don’t make promises you can’t keep. You’re better off exceeding
expectations than disappointing a client by eagerly promising something you
can’t do.
Be reliable and consistent. You can’t offer a great product/service
one day then offer poor quality the next and expect your customers to come
back again. Set the standards from the beginning and make sure all staff
consistently adhere to that same standard.
Customers should be your number one priority and accordingly each should be
treated as the one and only. As consumers, we like to feel important, and
that you are there to meet our needs, wants and demands - after all, that’s
what we are paying you for.
In today’s economic world, it is important as a business owner that we stay
in front of mind awareness with our consumers. How do we do this?
COMMUNICATE! Friendly phone calls and informative newsletters can help your
client remember you. Don’t forget small gifts and incentives to encourage
repeat business, such as gift vouchers and discounts. And embrace
technology. It has made our business lives simpler, and our communication
interactive, instantaneous and in real time. Like any project, if you have
strong foundations, you can always build up.
