RISING WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...
Why do I feel so emotionally drained all the time?
Sometimes when we are not focused our minds gets very busy and we can waste
a lot of mental energy. Notice that when you are enthusiastic or excited
about something you seem to have unlimited energy. Our minds need to be
focused and not scattered. If thoughts are energy, positive thoughts create
positive energy and the negative thoughts create negative energy.
Our thinking affects our feelings, so if we have a lot of negative feelings,
this takes up a lot of our daily energy. We expend a lot of energy if we
hold onto these unwanted negative emotions. If you don’t have an outlet for
them you can get drained and even depressed.
If you think this way then your life may not really be as full as you would
like it to be. Do you sometimes feel a little empty? If so, your mind
attempts to fill this void by obsessing and keeping busy, even magnifying
what’s occurring to keep yourself feeling as though your life is full.
Also sometimes we feel drained because we are not doing anything at all with
our energy. Think about doing some exercise that you enjoy to boost your
feel good chemicals, those wonderful natural endorphins. Look at what you
are eating too. Your food is the fuel for the day. Are you eating all the
colours and varieties in life that your body needs?
Consider too that at this time of year, with the lack of light some people
are prone to feel low due to seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or the winter
blues. Connections between mood, the seasons, as well as energy levels, are
well documented, even in healthy people. This can be remedied by using light
therapy, making the most of the natural light and taking in exercise too.
Sometimes, all it takes is making a few simple changes and you get
completely different results. Think about setting a few new goals; they can
be large or small but get your mind focusing on the right things for you.
If you could wave a magic wand and change something in your life, what would
you like to see? When you focus on your passions your energy will go up.
If you need some help consider consulting a professional to help you boost
your mood and to help you with your goal setting.
