What is Astrology?
Astrology is a study of the planetary patterns and the correlation they have
to events and people on earth -- as above, so below. It comes from the Greek
word “astro” meaning star, and “logos” meaning word or speech. Literally
translated, it means “star talk”. Astrology also gives meaning to each of
the planets, whether that is mythological, psychological, physical, medical
or spiritual.
Astrology is an ancient language; an art and a science that can be used as a
planetary guide for living on earth. It is made up of the ten planets,
including the sun and moon, and the twelve zodiac signs. This is known as an
Astrological Chart.
So how do all the planets and signs work together to come up with an
Astrological Chart? Well, we all know which zodiac sign the Sun was in on
the day we were born, such as Taurus, Capricorn, Aries, etc. Using the
longitude and latitude of the location you were born, the day you were born
on and the time tells us what zodiac sign the rest of the planets were in.
This is like a “celestial snapshot” of the planetary pattern on the date,
time and location of your birth. This “celestial” snapshot can tell us about
your personality, what challenges and life lessons you may have, your
communication style, your relationships with others, your finances,
health…the list goes on. More importantly, it can also tell us about the
evolution of your soul, which include desires and fears, strengths and
weaknesses, what holds you back, what motivates you and what your potentials
can be.
Astrology can give us a deeper understanding of knowing why we are all
unique and individual, yet at the same time why we are very similar. It
gives us the freedom to know that we do have choices to better ourselves and
to become the person we were meant to be.
The journey of each soul living on earth is to learn and experience all the
opportunities life has to offer. Sometimes, however, we may get stuck, not
knowing which way to go, life gets challenging and we get diverted back to
what feels most comfortable thereby limiting the growth and evolution of our
soul. When using the planets as a guide and the methodologies of
evolutionary astrology, it can give us clues as to where your soul has come
from, what you are here to learn, the challenges you may face and what your
ultimate desires are.
