RISING WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...

How can I make 2011 my “Best Year EVER”?

As a Certified Life and Business Coach, people often ask me what kind of New Year’s Resolutions I make to set goals, clarify strategies, and generally improve my life. For most, it’s hard not to get the “resolution urge” around the dawn of a New Year. There’s that sense of renewal, rebirth, and just plain guilt over the fact that most of us ate our weight in chocolate over the holidays. So, why not resolve to do things differently? New Year’s Resolutions are popular. Statistics tell us that 10 million Canadians make New Year’s Resolutions annually. Though 10 million people make them, only 63 percent keep them after 2 months, and 20 percent after 6 months.

I have never been a huge fan of the Resolution thing. However, I want to insure that every year I’m continually growing and improving. I believe every year should exceed the last one in terms of health, wealth and wisdom. So, how can you make 2011 your “Best Year Ever”? Leave 2010 behind. We all made mistakes, and possibly have regrets, flowing from 2010. Here’s the question: Are you defined by your mistakes, or refined by them? Often, we fail to fully engage the present because we are still captivated by the past. Give yourself permission to leap into 2011, leaving 2010 fully behind.

Align with your personal “LIFEFIT”. Dr. Viktor Frankl said that, “Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life; everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced...” Find out, and then flow, with your personal design and personal assignment. Abundance always flows from alignment. The more we are aligned with our LIFEFIT, the more abundance will naturally flow through us.

Grow your mindset and belief system to support your goals. Bring your thoughts and beliefs into alignment with your aspirations and dreams. You can go as far as your mind lets you. A limited mindset will always lead to a limited reality. Where our mind goes, we follow.

Laugh. Again, Dr. Viktor Frankl states: “The one thing you can’t take away from me is the way I choose to respond to what you do to me. The last of one’s freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance.” Personally, after a difficult 2009, I decided that 2010 would be better. It was! Consciously choose to make 2011 your “Best Year Ever!” No one can take this gift of choice from you. Happy New Year!
