RISING WOMEN EXPERT
ADVICE...
I am always looking for a way to change my hair, but
can’t seem to get the right style. What should I do when it comes to finding
what works?
“DENIM never goes out of style!”
When I read this statement, it started me thinking. Our hair is very much
like our designer jeans. When we look for our jeans, we can spend a huge
amount of time trying different ones on, looking for the right fit. Your
hair, unlike your fabulous jeans, is something that needs to be updated
every season. Thankfully, with every season, fashions evolve with a flavor
that can be incorporated into many personalities and like your fashions,
your hair should really reflect your image with as much quality as the rest
of your accessories.
Finding that hairstyle you love should be just as easy as finding that great
fitting pair of jeans. My best recommendation is to source out a stylist
that you can be comfortable to consult with. To make it easier to get your
point across, bring some visual tools. Pictures say a thousand words, and
not just pictures that you like, but pictures of hair that you don’t want. I
have clients bringing their collection of pictures into the salon so we can
look at them together. A theme usually re-occurs that speaks volumes about
what you’re trying to communicate. Your style should be versatile and should
work overall with your face shape. A great example of this is if your brow
bone, cheekbones and jaw line is approximately the same width, your face
shape is probably square. Your best hair style, to soften your features,
should have length below the jaw, height on the top with added softness
around the brow and temple area. Definitely avoid heavy fringes, as they
would only add more width to the upper portion of this face shape.
As for color choices, we can cosmetically place hair color, like makeup. A
placement of deeper or darker shades of color around the temple, forehead
and jaw line will also soften the angular features of a square face shape.
If your skin tone is warm, you can wear different shades of coppers, golden
blondes and rich auburn brunettes. If your skin tone is cool, as the
majority of our population is, you will suit cooler hair colors like
platinum blondes, beige blondes, walnut browns and red tones that can be in
comparison to merlot wine. The world of hair color can transform someone’s
image in just a few short hours.
So find your personal style and wear your hair like your designer jeans!
