RISING WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...

What is the lymphatic system and how does a lymphatic therapy benefit my body?

The lymphatic system is the human body’s secondary circulation system and is intertwined with the body’s entire blood flow. The basic material of the lymphatic system is extracted from the capillaries, giving nourishment to the tissue cells. The lymphatic system also takes away the waste that forms in the larger lymph vessels. This waste comes from outside toxins in our food, products and air. These lymph vessels lead to the heart. If this waste is not released, it can actually “plug” our lymph nodes causing a host of dis-ease over time.

The purpose of our lymph nodes is to filter the lymphatic system and to destroy foreign substances as they pass through our body. In this way, lymph nodes actually assist in preventing infection from passing into the bloodstream; which eventually produces unhealthy “antibodies” that affect our liver, kidneys and other organs.

All the toxins we put in our bodies affect our lymphatic system. When this delicate system gets plugged from excessive toxins it causes our lymph nodes to get plugged which can activate weight gain, lower our immune system and could cause a wide variety of other health issues from fatigue to chronic disease.

Our body is made of 90 percent water. This water flows through all our body parts carrying along with it waste and toxins through the bloodstream. Our body naturally filters itself by using our kidneys as its main filtering system. Lymphatic therapies generally help our kidneys filter the toxins faster, giving our bodies a higher immune system as well as activating our overall health! Lymphatic drainage massage for instance helps to release the toxins that our lymphatic system hasn’t been able to do on its own. This is a manual process where the therapist is able to detect specific directions, depth and quality of the lymph flow in specific areas of the body. All lymphatic therapies generally “map” the areas of our body’s vessels enabling the therapist to access overall circulation and to determine the best alternate pathways for draining body-fluid stagnations.

Lymphatic drainage does wonders for detoxifying the entire body, relieves numerous chronic inflammations such as bronchitis, reduces the symptoms of chronic fatigue, pain, even fibromyalgia and is an incredibly relaxing procedure for everyday stress relief.
