RISING WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...

Everything in my life is what I hoped and planned for, so why then don’t I feel happy? I feel stuck.

Real happiness is not bought or aspired to, you create it. The new car, job or boyfriend is only going to make you artificially happy for a while. Happiness comes from within, not from someone or something. We can move or change jobs, but the new situation will look exactly like the old one because we have not changed anything except the situation.

How do you make that shift simply by altering your emotions, thoughts, attitude and behaviors? When you start to change so will the people in your life.

Watch your emotions the next time you are driving and someone cuts you off. Instead of swearing at them, try to understand their situation. Maybe no one has been kind enough to let them in, or maybe they did not see you. You may have been in a situation like that prior, so instead of calling them every name in the book, take a deep breathe and let it go.

Thoughts are so important; what you think, you attract. If you say, “I am sad and stuck”, well guess what, you are sad and stuck. Watch your thoughts and your off-hand comments to yourself.

Your attitude to others is how you think of yourself. If you talk negatively about others or yourself, chances are you are feeling insecure about something. Others are a reflection of ourselves, good or bad.

A behavior is learned, and does not have to become a habit. A reaction to a situation is a habit. When you say to your husband you love him, are you just saying it or do you mean it. Are they just words that come out of your mouth automatically, or are they coming from your heart? Take the time to be in the moment, when you are hugging your children or driving the new car. Walk around your house and really see all the beautiful items you have collected, and are so blessed to have.

Before you go to sleep each night, think of five good things that happened to you that day that made you happy or brought a smile to your face. Once you start seeing the blessings in your life you will stop seeing the lack, and will not feel so stuck.
