RISING WOMEN EXPERT
ADVICE...
How important is our relationship with ourselves?
The relationship we form with ourselves is by far the most rewarding
relationship that we will create in our lived experience.
No matter where I go, what work I choose to do, or what peoples lives weave
into mine, I continue to see that the relationship that we develop with
ourselves creates the foundation that nurtures and sustains our relationship
with others and the greater world.
If you are the one person that you meet every morning and the same person
that you say goodnight to, then it might seem that this relationship becomes
not only something to accommodate but be one of great reverence.
Some of my professional work is that of working with people who are HIV
positive. This portion of my work has given me many blessings as I journey
to be with the human spirit in its most vulnerable and yet most powerful
moments. As I assist people to develop a relationship with themselves in the
face of illness adjustment, great loss and uncertainty, I get to help people
formulate a plan for hope and renewal.
The human spirit always calls us back to ourselves amidst pain and
loss...this is where hope, joy and passion rise and blossom. As we move to
know ourselves in the dark of fall and the coming of winter, we in turn
awaken to a renewed bountiful self in the days of spring and summer.
We as people need to plan for living as much as we plan for dying. If we
plan to live, and live each moment as if we are born and renewed, we then
seek to know ourselves in deep intimacy and within the infancy of our soul’s
wisdom. This relationship with our selves then becomes one of wonder, as we
notice the moments that we choose to feel and relate to our feelings, while
establishing the platform that allows us to relate to another.
As you plan your relationship with yourself, you will come to better know
the softness of your humanity, the wit of your spirit and the consciousness
of your soul. Imagine what co-creative experiences you will bring to your
life when you go forth and offer this same type of relationship to the many
others that inhabit your world.
