WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...
I have been a “Plus Size” gal my entire adult life but still have
trouble choosing clothes that “flatter my figure” (so to speak). Do you have
any suggestions? Girl! Plus size is the new “average” and finding exceptional, flattering
fashions from casual wear to evening is so much easier now-a-days with
couture manufactures finally getting realistic. So throw away the flowered
Muumuus and baggy pants, and let’s get down to some Voluptuous Fashion 101!
The single most important answer to looking great - whatever your size - is
to buy clothes that fit you well - including bras. Pass up that “must have”
if it is too tight or too loose; it just won’t do you justice. Don’t be
afraid to ask the sales clerk or other shoppers their opinion on the fit.
Come on, us gals will dive into it and help you out.
The second most important element is to keep the main colour flow of your
entire outfit to one, single shade. This will ensure that you are not
“announcing” problem areas (like those bodacious breasts!) and it will slim
you out and make you look taller! Seek out a “Colour Pallet” expert to find
out which colours look “simply amazing” with your complexion (they help you
with your makeup choices too).
Next, dive into those heals! Choosing to wear at least one inch heels will
do wonders in elongating your legs, thinning out your ankles and, of course,
instilling your attitude that “everyday is a ‘red carpet’ day”, ah hu girl!
Stay clear of low-rise pants and short shorts...unless you are willing to
put in the 40 + hours a day at the gym Jessica Simpson did to wear her
“daisy dukes” during the Dukes Of Hazzard movie. A slimming choice is pants
that have a slight flare at the bottom. Pants with straight legs will make
your butt stick out.
Don’t be afraid to layer your clothing. Unlike the popular mis-belief,
layering with blazers or cardigans can actually make your waist look
smaller. However, be sure that your jacket is long and left unbuttoned. Stay
clear of cropped jackets as they draw attention to your waist and booty!
To elongate your neck, wear tops with a V-neckline...but be sure to keep
them from revealing too much cleavage. Let’s face it, this can draw way too
much attention from your other beautiful features. Be cautious with high
neck and turtlenecks. They can sometimes exaggerate your bust giving you a
“Dolly Parton” silhouette from all angles...yikes! Tops that flare out
slightly from under the breasts slim your “booty” and hide the “ponch”!
