With a passion for helping others save tax, CAUSE
Canada is an International Relief & Development Organization which strives
to empower communities & individuals in disadvantaged regions to overcome
poverty.
In Sierra Leone, West Africa, the lifetime maternal mortality rate
is 1 in 8. This is one of the highest rates in the world and when compared
to the rate of 1 in 11,000 in Canada it is truly shocking. CAUSE
Canada believes that women’s health and children’s health is of
critical importance to the development of a community and to the furtherance
of human rights.
CAUSE Canada has been involved in addressing the vital issue
of maternal mortality in Sierra Leone for over 15 years by training
Traditional Birth Attendants, providing immunizations and providing public
health education. CAUSE Canada’s maternal health project will
be expanded in 2009 to include the construction of birthing huts, a clean
and hygienic environment for peri-natal care.
Believing that women are a powerful force for change, CAUSE Canada
is bringing together Canadian and Sierra Leonean women to challenge maternal
