If you or
someone you care about has been affected by cancer, it is important to know
there is a place you can go for answers. Imagine a world where
no Canadian lives in fear of cancer...
...a world in which Canadians diagnosed with cancer have access to the
latest information, enabling them to make informed decisions that can
enhance the quality of their lives.
The Cancer Information Service handled 3,277 enquiries from
Alberta last year and that number could increase dramatically if more people
knew the telephone number or knew how to find it.
Cancer Connection matched 527 cancer sufferers in Alberta with
volunteers who have survived the same cancer last year and 2,955 patients
and caregivers were supported by peers in their own community through this
program.
How many more patients could take advantage of these services if only they
knew how to access them?
The Canadian Cancer Society is committed to making these
services as accessible as possible. We’d like to give you a free fridge
magnet displaying the toll- free Cancer Information Service number, so
you’ll always know where to find us, if you need us.
For three weekends starting November 19th, volunteers will be stationed at
Cineplex and Famous Players theatres in Calgary handing out magnets or
please visit us online at
www.cancer.ca and click on Alberta/NWT to request your magnet.
Clear, reliable and trusted information from caring and qualified
specialists. Bilingual, confidential and toll-free. Please call
1-888-939-3333 for your questions about cancer. |
