A little mark can excite a precious work of art. A postcard. Proof you were
there. Or somewhere in your vast imagination. Quirky. Vibrant. Commentaries
on life. My works fuse the real with the whimsical into postcard sized
images. Simple doodles evolve through the process of colored inks, papers,
pixels and photographic landscapes, into characters with a cause.
The Contessa, our “cover gal”, is one such character. Once uptight and
overdrawn, The Contessa has rounded out body, mind and soul. In this
ambitious “Leap of Delight”, she exemplifies the choice to be happy or not,
take risks or not, and most importantly, to be delight itself. Because of
her I have developed a style of art I call “doodle drama”. Drawings with an
ongoing story.
Another
of my characters is the divinely human Prana Yum. Usually in quiet repose,
Prana has ditched the turban and donned snorkel and flippers to dance with
her demons in “Karma Sux”. She is the ultimate spiritual warrior seeking
just desserts for all, or all desserts just for her. She was last seen
sitting in lotus pose, lunching with the Dairy Queen.
Next is daredevil Marjorie. Marjorie thrives on “what ifs”. “What if I could
hang glide in heels,” she muses at the top of Cochrane’s big hill. Indiana
Jones, meet the Material Girl.
And again The Contessa, jamming with friends in Calgary’s Confederation
Park. Fearless but tone deaf, she drums out joy to all and while she is bent
on raising the vibration, earplugs are advised.

Inspiration for my work comes mainly from lived experience, from the roots
up. I grew up is southeastern Saskatchewan, a little village called Rama.
Beauty, community, ceremony, and crabapple pies were my first prairie muses.
Travel blasted them into a zillion more. I have a year of formal art
education from Calgary’s ACAD, and a lifetime of pencil marks from around
the world.
Wherever in the world you would like to see yourself, I can create. My
custom images humorously commemorate almost any occasion or whim. To get a
better idea of how I would create your postcard, and to view my images,
