Rising Woman - Janet RoweCleansing Essentials to a Healthy Body
By Janet Rowe owner of Health & Natural Lifestyles

Our body’s elimination system includes the small and large   intestines, the kidneys, the skin and the lungs. If these are not functioning properly the toxins remain in our body circulating in our blood trying to find an exit. When this happens the body functions at less than 100%, welcoming disease and illness. We get toxins from the chemicals and steroids in our food, the air we breath, and the water we drink. This is why it is important to cleanse our body.

Picture a brand new car. Compare it to a new baby. We add gas, oil, water, and fluids to keep it going. We provide mechanical maintenance to keep it operating efficiently; oil change, radiator flushing, vacuuming, washing, etc. Imagine your car operating efficiently for 40 years without providing the maintenance and care indicated above. Our body needs to be maintained as well. Cleansing is a major part of that maintenance. As a baby, we eat and then we eliminate. As we get older, we seem to stop eliminating as often as we eat. This is why our body also needs to be flushed, vacuumed, and washed. Comparatively, a car motor continues to function on dirty oil, the radiator continues to function with dirty water, and the car floor is still there even if it has 40 years of dirt on it. But are any of these things operating at 100%?

How do we make sure our elimination systems are eliminating all of these toxins and are functioning well? If we regularly cleanse our body of the toxins, the eliminatory systems function much closer to the 100%. Just as a car functions better and lasts longer with a regular maintenance schedule; so does our body. How should we cleanse our body?

Starting with the colon, a greens drink helps the body vacuum and carry the toxins from the corners of the body to the colon. Add Bentonite or Pascolite Clay mixed with Psyllium husks to your favourite juice. The clay provides a poultice to pull the hardened mucoid matter away from the diverticulae and curves of the colon, whereas the psyillium fiber helps push it through. Herbs such as cascara sagrada, myrrh, pumpkin seed, etc., also help cleanse the colon. Enemas or colon flushes of plain water do not clean the mucoid matter off the colon walls. Compare it to an egg yolk smeared across a plate and left to dry for 48 hrs. If you flush water on it 2 or 3 times it still doesn’t remove the hardened yolk.

People also tell me that they can’t possibly have a toxic colon because they constantly have diarrhea. Diarrhea can move through the middle of the colon, without even touching the hardened mucoid matter stuck to the sides. Our colon needs fiber daily to continue cleansing. As adults we need a minimum of 30-40 grams daily, 1/2 soluble and 1/2 non-, along with acidophilus, bifidus, and bulgarius for the good bacteria.

Water is extremely important in cleansing the body as it carries waste products and toxins to our elimination systems. As a rule of thumb, take your body weight and divide by two, this equals the amount of ounces of water needed by your body per day.

For the ultimate cleanse, include4-6 days of fasting to help flush the body and give the system a rest, so that the flushing can get to all of the corners. Vitamins, minerals and herbs play also an important role in cleansing, detoxifying, and rebuilding the functions of organs, glands, lungs, skin and kidneys, liver, etc. Good bacteria or flora, and enzymes are also required to help maintain digestion and fuel the body through absorption of nutrients and fluids.

A kidney cleanse (water, cranberry, parsley, ginger, goldenseal, marshmallow root and other herbs) keeps the kidneys functioning so they are able to eliminate.

Lets not forget the liver. As a main filter and bile producer, the valves, etc., get plugged up with bile. Milk thistle, dandelion root and other herbal combinations are used. There are natural fruit juice cleanses that actually make you pass the gall stones and liver bile.

Cleansing the lungs can be difficult but can be done. Toxins settle in the bottom of the lungs from the air we breathe. We need to learn to deep breathe again, pulling in the maximum air and exhaling the toxins. Vitamins C plus A have been proven to help cleanse these toxins, as well as herbs such as chapparal, comfrey, fenugreek, mullein, and lobelia.

Finally, the skin needs dry brushing to remove the dead cells and stimulate the new growth. Essential fatty acids, vitamins and cleaning is important. Sweating is also important, so exercise is usually required to make this happen. When you have done all this body cleansing, our physical body will react positively, you will react positively, and you will feel a difference!
