Rising Woman - Lila SmithBeing in the Right Place at the Right Time
By Lila Smith - Spiritual Educator

I have struggled with this concept ever since I was a child. My mother informed me when I was quite young that I was an 'accident'. Talk about feeling like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Add that to being born in a small town and into a less than prosperous environment and the feeling was magnified. The positive aspect of that experience is that it taught me to recognize without a doubt when I am in the right place at the right time, which brings me to a couple of experiences where I really felt it.

One experience was meeting a person who introduced me to the spiritual world and was instrumental in my re-connection to my soul. Meeting that
person was being in the right place at the right time. It was that re-awakening that led me to the group of people I still work with after 8 years. I remember vividly what I was doing when I heard 'the call'. I was on my hands and knees washing a floor. Not the most glamorous of spiritual experiences but effective nonetheless. That was being the right place at the right time.

So how does it work exactly? Being in the right place at the right time for me is going within and tuning into what I am feeling. I process situations according to how they feel. If I have a feeling to do something or go somewhere and I act on it, I am always exactly where I should be. For other people it may be a vision, an inner knowing or an inner voice that guides them.

That is how our angels communicate with us. They bring situations or opportunities to us for us to learn from. As the bible says: "If a man have an angel to whom one would listen but once in a thousand times, the angel would show him the way of uprightness" (Job 33:23). The key is listening and acting on those opportunities.

The other important aspect of being in the right place at the right time is timing. I may know what I want to do but the timing may not be right. I have discovered I may have a great idea but if that idea's time hasn't come there is nothing I can do that will make it fly. The solution is checking out not only the idea but also the timing. My angels are there to help with that as well. All I have to do is ask.

There is one essential key in all of this and that is trust. I have to trust what I hear, see, know or feel is the truth. I have to be able to set my intellect aside and trust what I am receiving from my angels. The intellect's purpose to organize my idea. Without it I would not be able to implement the ideas I get. Often, however, I will get a feeling, send it through my intellect and before I know it, I have talked myself out it. We have been taught to analyze, dissect, and evaluate and then re-analyze, re-dissect and re-evaluate again. By the time we get finished, we have lost the feeling. That brings us back to trust. I have to trust that feeling and act on it.

I can think of numerous times when I have had a feeling to do something and then I think about it and think about it and then the energy is lost. When I relate it back to being in the right place at the right time, I wonder how many opportunities that have been lost by not following through on the feeling to do something. What if I had done it? What experience might I have had? How might my life have been changed? The sad thing is I will never know.

So if you want to experience the feeling behind being in the right place at the right time, pay attention to that inner voice, trust it and do yourself a favour. Act on it!
