Rising Woman - Harmit Brar Menopausal Relief Naturally
By Harmit Brar & Ruel Cruz

It can happen to you now or later, or maybe it already  has. Menopause can be a horrible thing to go through. Women between the ages of 38 to 55 years old are likely to be affected. In this article, we will look at what menopause is, what areas of your body become affected, and how Reflexology can make menopause an easy stage to go through.

Menopause is when a woman’s body goes through changes in the concentration of sex hormones. The sex hormones become affected and this also causes the ovaries to become less reproductive responsive to the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and the luteinizing hormone (LH). These two hormones affect the development of the ovarian follicle. The ovarian follicle affects the levels of estrogen and progesterone.

There are many side effects to menopausal problems due to the drop in hormonal balance. This imbalance influences the activity of reproductive glands. Very, very important; the reproductive gland helps balance the hormone level in the woman’s body, and corrects their reproductive.

The reproductive gland consists of fallopian tubes and ovaries. The fallopian tube’s function is to conduct the ‘ora’ expelled from the ovaries during ovulation down to the uterus. During menopause, one ovarian follicle ruptures and releases its ovum. It is then taken to the fallopian tube. The fallopian conveys the ovum from the ovary to the uterus. Once the ovum fertilizes within the fallopian tube, it passes to the uterus, which is called ‘ZYOTE.’

The cycle of puberty lasts until the age of 38. After the age of 38, menopause kicks in. “At the time of menopause, the periods become irregular and vary from heavy to light ones.”(1) The symptoms of menopause include headaches, depression, insomnia, memory loss, indigestion, constipation, passing urine frequently, thinning of skin, loss of sex drive, hot flashes and osteoporosis. The direct reflexes of menopausal problems are ovaries, uterus, and pituitary. The associated reflexes are head and brain areas, intestines, bladder, urethral tubes, kidney, breast, thyroid, parathyroid, and solar plexus.

Menopause affects the following glands: Hypothalamus Gland (brain matter); Pituitary Gland (brain matter); Thyroid Gland (throat matter); Hormonal Gland (reproductive system); Ovaries (reproductive system); and Adrenal Glands (digestive system).

Reflexology can be very effective when an individual is not receiving Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). However, Reflexology can also be very helpful to menopausal problems other than those for which HRT is being given.

The Pituitary Gland is known as the ‘Master Gland,’ this secretes many hormones and produces ‘Releasing Hormones.’ The Pituitary Gland controls the activity of other glands, as well as the Thyroid Gland. The Thyroid Gland secretes thyroxin, which is a hormone that influences all the major system of the body. Once there is an imbalance of the hormone in the human’s body, it affects the entire health of the individual. This is where Reflexology can re-balance the activity of the hypothalamus through its action or autonomic immune system. “Reflexology acts at a very deep level to remove the underlying causes of the problem.”(2)

“The Adrenal Glands produce steroid hormones that regulate carbohydrate metabolism and also have anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties.”(3) The Adrenal Gland hormones control the reabsorption of sodium and water in the kidneys. It also secretes potassium and the sex hormones testosterone, estrogen and progesterone. “The output of the adrenalin is increasing at times of anxiety and stress when the body need to prepare for ‘Fight-or-Flight.’”(4)

The Endocrine Gland is known as the ‘Chemical System.’ This type of gland secretes hormones into the blood. Every tissue and organ in the body is controlled by the Endocrine Gland (Chemical Interaction). Our thoughts, feelings and emotions are reflected from the glands, and importantly the personality is affected and determined by the gland’s function. For example, our positive happy outlook is known as the ‘Harmonious,’ and our depressive outlook is known as the ‘Disharmonious.’

Now the main question of menopause is, “How can Reflexology help you?” Reflexology stimulates the electrical energy, which has a subsidiary effect on the chemical energy. It is just a simple task, and the therapy is applied to your ears, hands, and feet. It’s an option, and it’s natural!
