Rising Woman - Debra FordClearing Clutter - Re-Activating Chi Energy
By Debra Ford of the Feng Shui Zone

We all have a sneaking suspicion that we need to be more tidy, clean our homes and offices more often, and pick up the clutter now rather than later. But it is increasingly difficult with our busy lives to make the time to do this.

The problem with accumulated clutter is that it weighs you down and stops the flow of Chi. Chi is the energy that should flow through your home and office like a gentle breeze or babbling brook. If your surroundings are filled with clutter, you will be affected by the unpleasant energy that sticks to it. If you clear your clutter, you’ll increase the energy flow in your surroundings and you’ll feel better as your personal Chi (energy) enjoys an energy boost.

The more clutter you have, the more it attracts stagnant energy. Have you noticed how mess gathers around mess? How a few things left lying around easily becomes a big pile of stuff? A space filled with unnecessary things slows down your life, making it harder to progress and move forward. Clutter can keep you in the past, making it hard for new things to enter your life. Clutter makes you disorganized, prone to procrastination, and distracts you from important things.

Making changes (like clearing clutter) to your surroundings affects your personal energy. Therefore, it naturally follows that clearing your clutter externally will stimulate internal changes, improving the possibilities in your life. Everything around you (including your clutter) mirrors your inner self and your house is a reflection of your life. Removing obstacles to smooth the free flow of Chi in your environment improves your personal energy, creates harmony in your life, and makes space for exciting opportunities. Clearing clutter can improve your mind, health and flow of finances.

Here are some strategies for clearing clutter:

If you don’t love it or need it, let it go. Things that are loved and used have a strong, clear, free-flowing energy around them. If you surround yourself with things that have this free-flowing energy, you will have a loving, useful and happy life. On the other hand, anything unused, unloved, neglected or forgotten will cause your personal energy to slow down and stagnate; you will feel that your life is not moving.

Make a conscious decision to keep fewer material things.

Work on the 50/50 rule. Countertops should only be half covered with things; all drawers should only be filled 50%. This allows for new opportunities to enter your life.

Start by clearing clutter in your bedroom. This is the room that nurtures you. Next, move to the entrance of your home - both inside and outside - because this is the way that Chi enters your life. Go through all closets and ask of each item, “Do I love you, or do I need you?”

Set aside a regular time each week for clearing. Set up four boxes in the garage for donations, recycling, garbage, and for giving to family and friends. Clean each area as you remove the clutter, as Chi cannot flow through a dirty and dusty area. Add aromatherapy oils such as pine, lemongrass, and rosemary.

Clearing the clutter in your mind is as important as clearing the clutter in your living space. Wouldn’t it be great to get rid of those negative thoughts that sometimes swirl around your brain? You can, if you learn to meditate and visualize and make time to do it three times a week for twenty minutes. That’s all it takes!

You should realize that you have a subconscious mind of limitless power and potential and that your mind is connected to the immense power of the Universe. Your mind has the capacity to make whatever you wish come true; nothing is impossible. If you believe you will be happy, you will be happy. If you believe you will be unhappy, you will be unhappy. Negative thoughts give you negative energy, and positive thoughts give you positive energy. That is the Law of the Universe.

Start by clearing out the clutter and making a promise to meditate each week. Then sit back and watch the improvements enter your life!
