Rising Woman - Jan EdenLiving Marketing Plan - Part 2
      By Jan Eden - success coach & marketing strategist

     In this continuing Living Marketing Plan series, the next step before you begin to build your plan is to identify all possible challenges, obstacles and limitations. Following are some examples of actual challenges, obstacles or limitations that many of my clients have experienced.

    Dishonouring Self - Begin your Living Marketing Plan by ansswering the following;
    •“WHY” have I chosen to be in business for myself?
    •What are my immediate and future needs personally, professionally and financially?
    •How will I put myself first?

    ‘WHY’ - The ‘WHY’ is your purpose, your desire the energy that fuels your passion. If you are not clear right from the beginning ‘WHY’, you may decide to give up and not fulfill your desire. The ‘WHY’ is what serves the entire Living Marketing Plan. The ‘WHY’ may come in the form of making a difference in the community, the lives of others and most significantly, your life experience. The ‘WHY’ could be to make a lot of money and experience a significant life style.

    Your Needs Personally, Professionally and Financially - Choosing to be passionate about your career choice is rare. Personal satisfaction must be felt, not thought about. The challenges of being in business for yourself are enormous. Being personally excited stirs positive energy that attracts success to you. Experiencing success starts from deep within. You must choose success right from the get go.

    Success is a feeling experience. The feeling will tell you immediately whether or not you have made the right choice. It will feel as if your socks are rolling up and down with excitement. This level of excitement will propel you to attract and accomplish all that you originally set out to experience.

    Professionally, be authentic and lead by example is your highest choice. The end user deserves you to be the best. Without your clients or customers, you do not have a business.

    Financially, what are you worth? As a business owner it is imperative that you pay yourself first. Not paying yourself first dishonours you, your business, and the clients or customers. The Living Marketing Plan must communicate through the Living Budget exactly what you financially require in order to feel valued. This amount must be identified first. Once this amount has been determined, then the Living Marketing Plan has financial purpose and all other requirements will be built around this decision. Putting yourself first is a new discipline and may feel awkward for many business owners. I can guarantee until you honour yourself first, no one else will.

    Wishing and Hoping - Without a deliberate focused plan of action developed through a Living Marketing Plan, many business people live in the ‘Wishing and Hoping’. Being in the ‘Wishing and Hoping’ is a business disease that only clarity and discernment can cure. Examples of ‘Wishing and Hoping’ would be if you find yourself saying, “I might become successful”; “I might attract customers or clients”; “I hope my customers or clients become regular purchasers and users of my product or service”; “If I work hard enough, I may be able to pay myself”; “If I am nice to my employees, they may do a good job”; “If I had a University Degree, I would be more successful”; “If I had a better computer, I would be more successful...”

    ‘Wishing and Hoping’ a business to success is like deciding to go on a diet without proper food consumption and exercise. You can expect a different result! Being in business is a serious choice. No level of ‘Wishing and Hoping’ will allow you to celebrate authentic results. The main objective to being successful is to have a solid plan that will maintain and sustain. What I encourage all of my clients to experience is to build your business each day as if it were up for sale. In other words, treat your business with the utmost respect. Know your business is an extension of yourself. Who you are personally mirrors who you are professionally.

    Fear of Loss - Choosing to build a business fearing that you will fail in some way, shape or form, is a huge block. Fear of Loss comes in many forms. You may not even be aware that you are building passionately with fear of loss as your anchor.
