RISING WOMEN EXPERT ADVICE...
Can you talk more about the coming “Creative Age”? I have a business
background, how is it going to effect the job market, what can we expect,
what can I do to
At the dawning of the “Information Age” no one could foresee text
messaging let alone Facebook or Twitter. We can’t predict. We can however
understand more about creativity and practice it; that’s the best way to
prepare for the “Creative Age”.
Creativity is about new thinking. It is also about creation and making
things happen. We create our lives every day, so let’s say it’s about
“conscious creation”. Creativity stimulates your right brain, engages your
intuition and opens you up to new possibilities. By making “new thinking” an
everyday habit, you will find that after awhile you’ll have “A HA!” moments
and you’ll see more and more ideas come to you.
You can develop your creativity by doing something different every day and
practicing being more aware of your surroundings. Another way is to develop
your six senses. You can do this by spending some time focusing on just one
sense, such as hearing for instance. Really listen and make a list of
everything you hear.
A lot of “Creative Thinking” programs for business focus on brain exercises.
They are good to stimulate the right brain but don’t have the power or the
overall benefit that engaging in the arts does. The arts activate your mind
along with your body and soul in the process. Take some classes or become an
active audience member. Find a musician, actor, writer or painter you enjoy
and really study them. Ask them about their own creative process and what
inspires them in their work. If you are attracted to something it is
reflecting on you and could lead to the discovery of new passions.
Use a “Vision Board” to explore your career possibilities and your own
potential. To create your vision board, gather a broad scope of images and
words that appeal to you. You can find these in magazines, etc. Challenge
yourself. Have you found images that reflect how much money you want to
make? Have you considered the type of people you want to work with? Glue all
your images to a large board and keep evolving it with new images. You may
also want to do one for your current job or project at work. Your boss will
love the initiative. What a great age. Instead of studying information your
homework is essentially to play more.
